Our ovarian cyst clinic in Singapore is dedicated to providing effective and personalised treatments for ovarian cysts. We acknowledge your struggles with ovarian cysts. This is why we will only advocate appropriate treatments taking into considerations your age, cysts size and number, the nature of the cyst, the severity of your symptoms and your desire for fertility if any. We are very proud of the close relationships that we have established with our patients over the years and look forward to making even more lasting relationships with every new patient that we meet.

Common Ovarian Cysts Symptoms

Constant
Bloating

The pressure from the cysts may lead to a constant bloated feeling.

Severe Pelvic & Abdominal Pain

A large cyst may cause ovarian torsion (twisting) resulting in pain in the pelvis and abdomen that comes and goes. An ovarian cyst may burst (rupture) or leak and cause severe pelvic and abdominal pain.

Abnormal Menstruation

Some ovarian cysts can cause hormonal imbalances resulting in abnormal menses.

At GynaeMD:
Ovarian Cysts Treatment in 4 Steps

1
Physical Examination & Ultrasound Scan

Ultrasound scans use high-frequency sound waves to accurately reproduce an image of your pelvic organs and can help determine the size, number, location and type of cyst.

2
Observation

Most ovarian cysts are asymptomatic, painless and harmless. In fact, it is not uncommon for cysts to resolve spontaneously. If the cysts are small, benign and cause little to no pain, they can be safely monitored with serial follow-up ultrasound scans and blood tests (ovarian tumour markers) a few months later.

3
Medication & Surgery

Oral analgesia can be used to reduce pain but they do not have any effect on the growth of the ovarian cyst. Hormonal treatment in the form of the oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) prevent ovulation and therefore the chance of new cysts developing in future menstrual cycles.

Surgery is recommended by an ovarian cyst gynae if the symptoms are severe or getting worse, if the cyst is large or increasing in size and numbers or if there is a suspicion of it being cancerous.

4
Routine Examination

Since all women are at risk of developing ovarian cysts, we encourage patients to go for regular routine gynaecological examinations. Although most ovarian cysts are benign, one can never be absolutely certain as ovarian cancer share similar symptoms early on, hence an accurate diagnosis with our ovarian cyst doctor is imperative. Early detection also means prompt treatment resulting in better prognosis and treatment outcomes.
